DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The State of California Division of Boating and Waterways provides the Sheriff’s Office with an annual grant for an intervention program on the County’s lakes and waterways.  As an extension of that program, the State also offers equipment grants for items above and beyond the cost of the day to day operation of the boat patrol program.

This cycle the State has awarded the Sheriff’s Office funding toward the purchase of a new boat that will allow for patrol in multiple bodies of water.  Upon acceptance of this funding, the Sheriff’s Office will begin the procurement process for a new boat.  The goal is for the Sheriff’s Office to acquire a vessel that is be able to be utilized year round in various bodies of water.
