Supervisor Parlin recommending the Board, based upon the recommendation of the Garden Valley Fire Protection District Board, make the following appointment to the Garden Valley Fire Protection District Board:
Appoint Ronald Nail, Term Expiration 12/31/2023.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On 12-1-20, Dave Souza resigned his position as Director on the Garden Valley Fire Protection District (GVFPD) Board. The GVFPD Board received two applications during a replacement process and appointed a replacement Director within the 60 day period allowed. On 2-10-21, El Dorado County Elections notified the GVFPD Board that the residence of the selected candidate was not in the district. As such, the newly appointed Director resigned from the Board.
The GVFPD Board voted to appoint the remaining candidate, who accepted. On 2-11-21, El Dorado County Elections notified the GVFPD Board that because they had exceeded the 60-day period, the GVFPD Board could not make that appointment and that the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors could make the appointment if it was within 90 days of the original resignation. If the appointment is not made by the Board of Supervisors within 90 days from the original resignation then the GVFPD will have to hold a special election, which will be an expense that the district cannot afford in its budget.
The GVFPD Board of Directors request that the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors appoint Ronald Nail to serve out the remainder of past Director Souzas’ term.
