DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Recently, the El Dorado Transit Authority awarded the Sheriff’s Office a surplus 2007 Chevrolet Kodiak cutaway for use by the Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT). The CNT had been attempting to purchase an alternate response/negotiation vehicle from the currently used ‘90s model Ford pickup that can hold equipment and can provide cover from outdoor elements and surrounding noise to make negotiations easier for the seven-person team.

The donated vehicle would work well for the team providing ample inside storage for equipment, and a configuration of the interior for workstations for private negotiations. Additionally, the vehicle would transport team members without the need for individual county vehicles which saves on county costs and improves efficiency.

The Sheriff’s Office gratefully accepts this donation.
