Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. The Sheriff's FY2009/10 budget has appropriated funds for this repair service and will continue to budget for this need through the FY2010/11.

Background: The Sheriff's Office and Procurements & Contract entered into Agreement #486-S0910 with Motorola, Inc to provide "as needed" depot repair services for Motorola radio equipment for the period covering May 1, 2008 through April 30, 2010 in an amount not to exceed $25,000.

Reason for Recommendation: While the original agreement covered a wide range of county owned Motorola equipment, it did not specifically identify the Mobile Data Computers (MDC's) that are utilized by all Sheriff patrol Deputies nor the Automated Vehicle Location (AVL) equipment recently installed in all patrol vehicles. This Amendment will increase the compensation from $25,000 to $100,000 over the three year term and extend the term by an additional year.

The increase will cover the $12,500 annual radio related repair needs over 3 years ($36,000), and $35,000 one time memory upgrade for the Motorola MDCs to accommodate the on-board camera system software. It is anticipated that the balance of the contract ($29,000) will not be required as all new MDCs and AVL equipment is under 5 year warranty.
