Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
A majority of the equipment to be purchased will be funded by DHS's budget for fixed assets.  This funding is associated with the MediCal security project grant monies.  The remaining infrastructure equipment will be funded by IT.  IT has accounted for the needs of departmental moves in their FY 09-10 fixed asset budget.

Background:
On 07/28/2009, item 26, your Board approved the relocation of certain DHS divisions and personnel to the El Dorado Center in South Lake Tahoe.  In order to accommodate this move, it is neccesary to install additional data/telecommunications infrastructure equipment.

IT has assessed the exact needs and prepared a comparative market analysis to ensure the best and most economical equipment is purchased.

Reason for Recommendation:
As the County does not yet have an adopted budget resolution, IT is requesting advance approval for the purchase of necessary fixed asset equipment to accommodate the DHS move in South Lake Tahoe.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
Board to authorize Purchasing Agent to issue purchase order for the procurement of data/telecommunications fixed assets.
