DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On November 17, 2020, Legistar # 20-1470, the Board approved Grant Agreement C20L0611with the State of California, Department of Parks and Recreation, Division of Boating and Waterways, in the amount of $100,000, for the purchase of a boat for patrolling various waterways within in the County, prior to November 30, 2021.

Upon approval of that agreement, Procurement and Contracts set forth with the bid process.  Two responses were received and Rogue Jet Boatworks was the lowest qualified bidder.  The specifications provided from Rogue Jet Boatworks were acceptable to the Sheriff’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office is requesting to accept the bid submittal of $135,000.

On March 9, 2021, Legistar Item # 21-0316, the Sheriff’s Office brought a budget transfer increasing revenues and appropriations in the Sheriff's Office budget ($100,000 from the State of California Boating and Waterways Grant and $18,000 from Special Revenue Funding).  This budget transfer is adding more funding to supplement the cost difference between the award and final costs based on the results of the bid.  The grant award is for $100,000, the Sheriff's Office is using $35,000 in total from the Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Account (SLESA) to complete this purchase.
