Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Walk With Austin is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, born out of a desire to share about special needs parenting and to provide more opportunities for fun for other kids with mobility differences. An ALL-ABILITIES playground would serve the community in all the ways a traditional playground would - exercise, play outside, gathering place - but with the added bonus of serving members of the community who aren’t typically able to utilize standard playgrounds. Key differences such as rubber rock ground surfacing, adaptive swings, slides, ramp play structures and sensory friendly equipment all cost more, but allow more of our community to play together in the same place. The goal is to bring an ability inclusive playground to El Dorado County, where every child can play, have fun and feel welcome.
