Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the request of the Sheriff's Office, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued invitation to Bid 21-204-034 for the purchase of network security appliances, support and components to improve and enhance the redundant surveillance video storage backup at both the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe Jails. The Sheriff's Office has budgeted $180,000 for the purchase of these components. The components are on the Sheriff's Office Fixed Asset list for FY 2020-21.

ALTERNATIVES

WIthout the new security appliances, support and other components the security of EDSO personnel and inmates could be at risk.  Having redundancy is critical in ensuring video is available for viewing when systems fail or experience interruption.
