DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On May 10, 2021, El Dorado Community Foundation with Housing El Dorado and the Western Manufactured Housing Communities Association (WMA) hosted a public meeting called “Community Elevation: A Conversation on Mobile Home Parks” at the Union Mine School Theatre to discuss issues facing mobile home park residents, including rent and utility increases. Outcomes from this community meeting reflected the need to continue open dialog with the stakeholders that participated.
The establishment of the Mobile Home Ad Hoc Committee is recommended for the purpose of meeting on an intermittent, as-need basis to continue discussions on those issues concerning the residents and owners of mobile home parks, including collaboration on affordable housing for our communities.
El Dorado Community Foundation, Housing El Dorado, WMA and El Dorado County HCED Program will participate in this Committee. The Committee will also have a representative from one of the Park owners and Park residents.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to appoint Board members to the Mobile Home Ad Hoc Committee or change the structure of the proposed ad hoc committee.
