Background: The Department of Transportation has been providing the temporary housing for the past 12 years.

Reason for Recommendation: During the snow season in the Tahoma/Tahoe area, the Department of Transportation frequently works around the clock to keep the roads plowed and sanded. During periods of significant snowfall, it is necessary for the Department to send staff from the Maintenance Division assigned to the Placerville facility to South Lake Tahoe and Tahoma, possibly for several days. To accommodate the working snow crew, it is necessary to provide housing for them. DOT Facilities Division, Real Property Unit, has negotiated a lease for this purpose, commencing on December 1, 2009 and ending on March 31, 2010, with provisions for an additional one month period, if the weather is extremely bad.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
The Board Clerk will forward to the Department of Transportation, Real Property Unit two fully executed original copies of Lease Agreement 067-L1010 for distribution and administration.
