2) Make findings pursuant to Government Code 25526.6 that issuance of this Facility Use Agreement is in the public interest.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Assembly Committee on Rules, California State Assembly has occupied 96 square feet of space located at 2441 Headington Road in Placerville since July 2013.  The current agreement is set to expire on December 31, 2021.

 

California State Assemblyman Bigelow has requested to continue their use of the office space for a staff person.  State Assemblyman Bigelow represents El Dorado County east of South Shingle Road and all the way to South Lake Tahoe.  The staff person interacts with the community to address needs and concerns while being centrally located to the population density represented.  Additionally, this has provided County officials direct access to communicate issues regarding County concerns.  A benefit to public interest exists with their location at this premise.

 

Amendment I to Facility Use Agreement (FUA) No. 4481 would provide for continued use of this space through December 31, 2023.

 

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could decline the FUA and the Assembly Committee on Rules, California State Assembly would need to find a different location.

Approve as recommended.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no charge associated with this FUA to the Assembly Committee on Rules. However, since the space is allocated to the Department of Transportation (DOT), the General Fund reimburses the Road Fund $3,284 annually for the use this space since it is not related to DOT uses.
