Title
Supervisor Santiago recommending adoption of Resolution increasing the number of trustees on the Happy Homestead Cemetery District Board from three to five and establishing the terms of office for the new members.  The Board of Supervisors also must promptly appoint the persons to fill the new offices. (Est. Time: 10 Min.)
Resolution 257-2009
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  None

Background:   The Trustees of the Happy Homestead Cemetery District have voted unanimously to request that their Board be expanded from three (3) to five (5) members, and that the Board of Supervisors appoint two additional Trustees to fill the two newly-created offices.  It has become difficult for the District to conduct business when a quorum is difficult to obtain and they are facing very important issues.  The Board of Supervisors must also establish the initial terms for the newly created offices so that they are staggered.   The attached resolution creates the two new offices and the initial terms.  After the initial terms, the succeeding terms will be for 4 years.  Also, the Board must "promptly" appoint persons to fill the two newly created offices.  Several persons have submitted applications, and the Board of Supervisors can consider them for appointment.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  Copies of the Resolution will be signed by the Chairman of the Board and forwarded to the Happy Homestead Cemetery District.
