DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On October 19, 2021, the Board approved the District Attorney’s acceptance of the CDI Workers’ Compensation Fraud Program (WC) in the amount of $437,474 for grant period July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022, and the CDI Automobile Fraud Program (Auto) in the amount of $198,464 for grant period July 1, 2021 - June 30, 2022. The Board also authorized the District Attorney to accept any subsequent grant amendments for both awards. These Programs support continued efforts in the investigation and prosecution of workers' compensation insurance fraud and automobile insurance fraud.

On January 5, 2022, the District Attorney’s Office received notification of additional grant funding for both Programs, of which $9,397 was allocated to El Dorado County for the WC Fraud Program and $15,032 was allocated for the Auto Fraud Program. The additional award for the WC Program will cover anticipated professional services for expert witness fees related to a high-priority case. The additional award for the Auto Program will cover anticipated salary and benefit expenses pertaining to any potential Extra-Help positions dedicated to the Program. The enclosed budget transfer reconciles the additional award within the department's FY 2021-2022 budget.

ALTERNATIVES
Should the Board decline approval of the Budget Transfer, the District Attorney's budget will not accurately reflect the WC and Auto Programs revenue for FY 2021-2022.
