Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On February 8, 2022, with Legistar item 22-0249, the Board authorized the Chief Administrative Officer to execute Agreement 6366 that provided $112,373 in funding for the Housing El Dorado Charitable fund to provide shelter for homeless residents four nights each week through the Housing El Dorado nomadic shelter during the 2021-2022 Winter season, through March 31, 2022.

On March 14, 2022, Housing El Dorado contacted the Chief Administrative Office requesting that the contract be amended to allow for the funding to cover the Winter Lodging Program through April 30, 2022, extending the period by one month. Housing El Dorado has utilized volunteers, donations, and other cost-saving measures that will allow them to operate the Winter Lodging Program for an additional month without the need for further funding from the County. Housing El Dorado also conveyed to staff that the City of Placerville will be considering extending its Memorandum of Understanding with Housing El Dorado until the end of April at its March 22, 2022, City Council meeting.

Amendment I to Agreement 6366 will allow for the $112,373 in General Fund Support authorized to be used to fund Winter Lodging Program expenses incurred during the month of April. Amendment I does not increase compensation, and changes only the month of March to April in Article I.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not the approve the amendment and Housing El Dorado would be unable to utilize County funding for services provided in April.
