DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the request of the Department of Transportation, the Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, issued Invitation to Bid 22-290-066 for the purchase of Guardrail Materials. The guardrail sections and hardware will be used for maintenance and repairs in the event of accidents or other types of damage that impact guardrail integrity.

 

The Invitation to Bid was published in the County's eProcurement system, PlanetBids. Four bids were received, none from local vendors. The lowest qualified bidder is Midstate Barrier, Inc., of Stockton, California.

 

ALTERNATIVES

Without Guardrail Materials, there would be increased risk and expense for traveling hazards incurred on County roadways.
