Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the request of the Health and Human Services Agency, Human Resources analyzed the minimum qualifications of the Veterans Service Officer and Supervising Mental Health Worker classifications to identify additional education and experience pathways for candidates to possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the classification.  As a result of the analysis, in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Agency, Human Resources recommends a revision to the minimum qualifications for the Veterans Service Officer and Supervising Mental Health Worker classifications to maintain alignment with comparator agencies, while expecting to attract a larger, yet still qualified applicant pool. In addition, there are edits to the existing Supervising Mental Health Worker class specification in order to format it to current standards, as the previous format was from 2008.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not to approve the revised job classifications and direct Human Resources to explore other options or revisions.
