DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

At the request of the DOT, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued invitation to bid 23-801-004 for the purchase of Sign Blanks and Marker Plates. DOT purchases sign blanks, marker plates and accessories to create wayfinding, cautionary and safety signs with the expertise of County staff.

 

The Invitation for Bids was posted on PlanetBids with thirty-five (35) vendors notified, one (1) to a local vendor. Four (4) qualified responses were received, none from local vendors.

 

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose to not approve the bid, however without the new wayfinding, cautionary and safety related signage public safety would be compromised.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

No impact to Net County Cost as funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2022-23 DOT budget. DOT will include funds for future fiscal years through the normal budget process.
