DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On August 2, 2016, your Board approved the initial Agreement with GSEC in the amount of $60,187 with a term effective upon execution and continuing through June 30, 2017 (Item #16-0606 V1). The County has subsequently renewed the Agreement on an annual basis with the current Agreement (FENIX #6741) in the amount of $64,430 ending June 30, 2023.
The Agreement provides for the County's participation with the Greater Sacramento Economic Council (GSEC) as a voting member, and economic development related services including regional, statewide, and international strategy development, assistance with retention and expansion of existing businesses within the County, and research on key retention and expansion projects.
Upon execution of the initial Agreement, the Board appointed the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to represent the County on the GSEC Board of Directors. With the CAO’s impending retirement in March 2023, staff is recommending that a member from the Board of Supervisors serve as the new voting member.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to appoint a voting member to the GSEC Board of Directors.
