DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Board has established an ad hoc committee to work on issues related to fire and EMS within the County. This committee coordinates with County staff and the fire and EMS providers in the County toward the goal of continued, high quality and fiscally sustainable fire, EMS, and ambulance transport services. The members of the committee for calendar year 2022 are Supervisors Parlin and Hidahl. In 2023, the committee will be participating in discussions about at least two potential reorganizations of fire districts - North Tahoe Fire Protection District with Meeks Bay Fire Protection District and El Dorado County Fire Protection District with Diamond Springs-El Dorado Fire Protection District.

 

The selection of members to serve on ad hoc committees is a Board decision and the CAO usually does not make recommendations for specific members to serve; however, the El Dorado County Fire and Diamond Springs-El Dorado reorganization would be a significant project, mostly impacting Districts III and IV. Given this, the CAO recommends retaining Supervisor Parlin and replacing Supervisor Hidahl with Supervisor Thomas on this committee for calendar year 2023.

The Board could choose to maintain the composition of the committee or select other members to fulfill these roles.
