Body

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND

In accordance with Purchasing Policy C-17, Section 6.3 Surplus Property Sale or Transfer, upon the recommendation of the purchasing agent that specific items of property belonging to the County and found by the Board of Supervisors not be required or adequate for County use, the Board of Supervisors may make available to government organizations those items of surplus personal property. The transfer of personal property to such government organizations shall be made in accordance with Government Code 25365(a) and pursuant to a written agreement.

The Department of Transportation, Fleet Division declared one (1) 2008 Ford Ranger (Vin #1FTYR11E58PA05108, County Tag #514339) as surplus as this vehicle has reached it's target mileage for replacement and is no longer needed for department use, but seems to still be in good mechanical working condition. The Cameron Park Community Services District has reached out to the Department of Transportation, Fleet Division requesting to purchase a truck to fit the needs of the District.

After reviewing Kelley Blue Book and current auction prices, the Department of Transportation, Fleet Division and the Cameron Park Community Services District have come to the agreement that the fair market value for the  2008 Ford Ranger (Vin #1FTYR11E58PA05108, County Tag #514339)  is six-thousand dollars ($6,000).

Upon approval of the recommendation, the Procurement & Contracts Division will process the necessary surplus property paperwork, and the Department of Transportation, Fleet Division shall process payment and title.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not to approve the direct sale of the 2008 Ford Ranger (Vin #1FTYR11E58PA05108, County Tag #514339) to the Cameron Park Community Services District, and the Purchasing Agent would dispose of the surplus property by auction.
