Supervisor Thomas recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign a Proclamation recognizing January 22-28, 2023 as School Choice Week in El Dorado County. El Dorado County will join dozens of city and county leaders across the country in officially acknowledging School Choice Week to simply raise awareness of the K-12 education options.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
National School Choice Week (NSCW) informs, inspires, and empowers parents to discover the K-12 education options available for their children, including traditional public, charter, magnet, online, private, and home schooling.
Every January, tens of thousands of schools, organizations, and individuals plan unique events and activities to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options in their communities.
National School Choice Week 2023, happening January 22-28, 2023, will include 2,290 educational events and activities in California planned by schools, homeschool organizations, parent groups, and educators.

The Board could choose to not sign the Proclamation.
