DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

A request has been submitted by Brian D. Carlton and Lindsey M.H. Carlton, as Trustees of The Carlton Family Trust dated August 17, 2018, owners of Assessor's Parcel Number 083-583-025, requesting that the County of El Dorado, Board of Supervisors, vacate the rear Drainage and Public Utility easements located on said property. The easements are more particularly described in Exhibit A and depicted on Exhibit B of the attached Resolution.

 

The Drainage and Public Utility easements, as shown on Lot 74 of Cameron Ridge Unit No.2, recorded in Book I of Subdivisions at Page 62, were offered to the County of El Dorado by LMD Cameron LLC, A California Limited Liability Company, By: Lucas and Mercier Development, Inc., A California Corporation, on November 30, 1999.  The easements were acknowledged by the County of El Dorado on April 25, 2000, and the Subdivision Map was recorded on April 26, 2000.

OTHER DEPARTMENT / AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

Department of Transportation, AT&T, Comcast, El Dorado Irrigation District and Pacific Gas & Electric have not used said portions of subject easements for the purposes for which they were dedicated and find no present or future need exists for said portions of subject easements and do not object to their vacation, and to that end, have all issued letters to that effect.

 

County Counsel has approved the resolution template.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The Surveyor’s Office collects a fee for processing the Abandonment of Easement on a time and materials basis.  There is no fiscal impact as a result of the approval of this item.

 

CLERK OF THE BOARD FOLLOW UP ACTIONS

1) Clerk of the Board to obtain the Chair's signature on the one (1) Resolution.

2) Clerk of the Board to record the Resolution at the Recorder’s Office.

3) Clerk of the Board to return a copy of the recorded Resolution for further processing to the Surveyor's Office, Attn: Jane McClusky.
