DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
It has become a tradition at the state and local levels to proclaim February or March as Civil Grand Jury Awareness Month. Whatever month is chosen, it is consistent with the typical starting time for recruiting grand jurors for the year starting in July.
The Civil Grand Jury is a group of citizens appointed to investigate local government agencies. The Grand Jury may examine all aspects of county government (including special districts and school districts) to see that public monies are being handled judiciously and that an effective government is serving in the best interest of the people.

The Board could choose not to approve the Chair signing of the Proclamation.
