DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The South Lake Tahoe Library Myers Trust was established by Steve and Jean Myers for the ongoing purpose of supporting and expanding the South Lake Tahoe Library. In subsequent years the Library has used SLT Library Myers Trust funds to expand public hours, grow the book collection, and underwrite part of the cost of staff and utilities. The South Lake Tahoe Library has experienced higher usage in recent years due to extra hours open, more community programs and the expansion of Community Hubs. The South Lake Tahoe Library requires a Librarian I/II to assist patrons, provide collection development, and community programs.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose to decline the recommendation, direct staff to conduct additional analysis, or approve an alternative plan.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost for FY 2023-24 would be approximately $126,000. Funding is available from the South Lake Tahoe Library Myers Trust and there is no impact to Net County Cost.
