DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Fire Service industry is experiencing a severe shortage of Firefighters. With the reestablishment of this program we are hoping to provide greater access to this great profession to our El Dorado County residents. Our closest College Fire Technology Programs are located in Elk Grove, Roseville, and on a very limited basis, Sacramento. Tahoe Community College has a great program, however, we have had challenges with our fire fighters getting to these classes during inclement weather. This is a tremendous opportunity for our local Fire Departments to partner and support Folsom Lake College in this great effort.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve signing this letter of support which could jeopardize this important program coming to Folsom Lake College.
