DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Department of Transportation, Maintenance and Operations Division (Transportation) is requesting to purchase a compact track loader that is currently listed on the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Fixed Asset list.

 

At the request of Transportation, the Procurement & Contracts Division issued an invitation to Bid #23-760-065 for one (1) new compact track loader.  The invitation to bid was posted on PlanetBids website for all interested vendors to respond. The bid received one (1) qualified response. No local vendors responded, and Bobcat of Sacramento, from Sacramento, CA, was determined to be the sole qualified bidder.

 

ALTERNATIVES

The Board may elect not to approve the purchase, although this would leave Transportation with inadequate equipment to complete road maintenance projects.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The proposed purchase results in no increase to Net County Cost. The compact track loader is currently listed on the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Fixed Asset list for a not-to-exceed amount of $141,652.00; therefore, no budget amendment is needed.
