DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The El Dorado County Fairgrounds along with Russell Motorsports, Inc. have provided the only 4th of July fireworks celebration on the actual holiday here on the West Slope. This event is for our community, region, and other visitors to celebrate Independence Day in a fun and safe way. The event draws close to 10,000 and is not just a fireworks show, this event is a family-oriented event with live music, family games and dancing.

These funds if granted will help to pay for security for the event which includes safety logistics, related permits, and fire & law enforcement staff, as safety is the number one goal. Many travel to the county for the event and spend money on hotels, food, and entertainment.

ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the funding request, and no funding would be provided in support of these efforts.
