DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:

Children and youth may require placement in a residential treatment facility for a limited time to provide a safe and stabilizing therapeutic environment. On February 1, 2023, with Legistar Item 23-0248, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors directed the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) and the Probation Department to bring an agenda item to the Board within six (6) months on the purpose and the difference between juvenile residential treatment centers and group homes, how they are licensed and monitored, and the County's roles and responsibility in this arena.

The Board could choose not to receive this presentation.
