Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On October 17, 2023, the Board heard Ordinance 5184 and continued the matter to October 24, 2023 for Final Passage.

This ordinance would update Title 9, Chapter 9.47 of the County Code of Ordinances, and would retitle the Ordinance to County Skate and Bike Park Ordinance. On May 2, 2023, the Board conceptually approved amendments to the El Dorado County Ordinance Code to include a chapter on bike parks within the County of El Dorado. When staff was working on adding a chapter on bike parks, they found other counties had combined Skate Parks and Bike Parks. In September 2023, the Old Depot Bike Park opened to the public. Staff has prepared an Ordinance to provide rules for both skate and bike parks, replacing the current Ordinance 4953, County Skatepark Ordinance, which became effective on March 23, 2010. This amendment shall become effective thirty days following the approval of the Board of Supervisors.  Rules will be posted at the Skate Park and Bike Park.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose to not approve this ordinance amendment and direct staff to return with an updated ordinance.
