DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
At the request of the Department of Transportation, the Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division issued an invitation to bid, #24-071-035 for the purchase of three 2023 Pacifica all wheel drive vans. All three vans are replacements currently listed on the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Fixed Asset list and utilized by Health and Human Services.

The Invitation to Bid was published in the County's eProcurement system, PlanetBids. One qualified response was received.

ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the award and purchase of the vehicles; however, the use of vehicles that are over target miles may result in unsafe conditions or additional maintenance costs incurred to repair such vehicles. Likewise, due to manufacturer cancellations and production timelines, Transportation would not be able to replace the vehicles in a timely manner and are unable to utilize the State of California competitively-bid contract.
