Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
At the request of the Department of Transportation (Transportation), the Chief Administrative Office, Procurement and Contracts Division, issued Invitation to Bid 22-289-045 for the purchase of Model 332L Signal Controller Cabinet and Components in May of 2022. The request to award to Western Pacific Signal and the contract were brought before the Board of Supervisors for approval on June 28, 2022 (Legistar 22-1035). Contract #6757 was awarded and implemented with a not-to-exceed of $225,000. The signal controller cabinet and components are used for maintenance and repairs in the event of accidents or other types of damage to signals which impacts signal hardware.

In September 2023, Western Pacific Signal, LLC was acquired by Econolite Control Products Inc. A new purchase contract with the updated vendor name of Econolite Control Products Inc. dba Western Pacific Signal was generated totaling $95,000 to ensure there was not a lapse in necessary materials. Transportation is requesting to increase the new purchase contract by $130,000 for the remaining term which coincides with the previous contract not-to-exceed dollar amount.
