Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. The State Department of Boating and Waterways will provide 100% of the funds needed, and there is no County match required.
Background: The State of California Department of Boating and Waterways provides the Sheriff with an annual grant for an intervention program on the County's lakes and waterways. As an extension of that program, the State also offers equipment grants for items above-and-beyond the cost of the day-to-day operation.
Reason for Recommendation: The Sheriff has requested, and the State Department of Boating and Waterways has agreed to fund $30,000 for the purchase of dry suits for the Boat Unit staff.
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Clerk of the Board to provide a certified copy of the Minute Order authorizing the execution of this Agreement; The Sheriff to sign the Equipment and Operations Contract for submission to the State Department of Boating and Waterways; Sheriff's Office to provide Procurement and Contracts with the specifications for the requested equipment, and the Sheriff's fixed asset list for FY 09/10 to be updated to include the purchase of these dry suits; the Board to approve and sign the attached Budget Transfer Request and the Auditor's Office...
