Title
Environmental Management Department recommending the Board adopt a Resolution amending Resolution 003-2010 to correct a mathematical error in the solid waste collection and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) rates for Waste Connections, Inc. dba El Dorado Disposal Services that were effective on January 1, 2010.  (Refer File 09-1541, 1/12/10, Item 23)
Resolution 032-2010
Body
Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There is no change in Net County Cost.

Reason for Recommendation: On January 12, 2010 the Board of Supervisors held a public hearing to consider the adjustment of the solid waste collection and Material Recovery Facility (MRF) rates for Waste Connections of California, Inc., dba El Dorado Disposal Service by a 3.3% increase effective January 1, 2010. At that meeting, the Board of Supervisors approved the 3.3% rate increase. Unfortunately, the accompanying Resolution contained a mathematical error in the rate calculation which resulted in the fee schedule reflecting rates higher than they should have been.

On February 1, 2010, El Dorado Disposal Service contacted the Environmental Management Department and advised them that the rate schedule passed by the Board of Supervisors on January 12, 2010 had an error. In addition, the January 2010 billing for El Dorado Disposal Service had been sent to customers, within the unincorporated area of the County, with the incorrect rates.

This agenda item corrects the El Dorado Disposal Service's Schedule of Rates. El Dorado Disposal Service has corrected their billing system retroactively to January 1, 2010 and the El Dorado Disposal Service customers who were billed the incorrect rates for January 2010 will see a credit on their next bill.

Action to be taken following Board approval: Forward executed resolution to Environmental Management Department for implementation.
