Title
Supervisor Nutting requesting the Board discuss and consider possible participation in a meeting to be held April 6, 2010, which is a Board Meeting day, regarding the National Forest System Land Management Planning Rule Region 5 development of the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).  (Refer 2/9/10, Item 21, File 10-0128)
Body
On February 9, 2010, the Board of Supervisor's agreed to send a letter to the forest service requesting participation in the development of the EIS for the revision of the forest planning rule.   As a result of that letter we received an invitation from the USFS Region 5 informing us of round table discussions being held concurrently at three different locations throughout California, one of which will be in Sacramento.  There will be a morning and evening session.  The morning session will break into groups to solicit input on the revised planning rule, and the afternoon session will be informational with forestors, etc. available to answer questions.   More details and the agenda will be available next week.   Unfortunately, April 6, 2010, is a board day for most counties.  RCRC had a conversation with the forestry about the inconvenience, but they were unable to get the date changed.  The end results of these round tables will shape the future of our forest.  Other counties have, or are in the process of discussing the possibility of canceling their board meeting for April 6th.   RCRC is encouraging participation by board members and the public at large.
