Background:
On May 14, 2009, the Environmental Management Department received a renewal request from South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc. indicating their option to exercise renewal option regarding a five (5) year extension of the current Franchise Agreement with a new expiration date of December 31, 2014.
On June 30, 2009, the Board approved the matter on the consent calendar (Legistar Item 09-0847).
On December 30, 2009, the Environmental Management Department received a letter from South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc., requesting a franchise extension as part of a new Solid Waste Services Agreement between El Dorado County and South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc. (Attachment A)
Item for Consideration:
The Board in its discretion has the following options regarding the request for a franchise extension and a new Solid Waste Services Agreement between El Dorado County and South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc.
1) Grant to hear the request of South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc., for a franchise extension and a new Solid Waste Services Agreement between El Dorado County and South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc. and continue the item to May 2010 at which time the request will be presented for full discussion.
2) Deny South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc. the request to hear an item regarding a franchise extension and a new Solid Waste Services Agreement between El Dorado County and South Tahoe Refuse Co., Inc. since the term of the current Franchise Agreement has an expiration date of December 31, 2014.
