Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  The requested budget transfer will appropriate the grant funds.  Local match consists primarily of in-kind staff match and minor equipment funded by the South Lake Tahoe Friends of the Library.  No change to Net County Cost.
 
Background:
The California State Library is providing federal Library Services and Technology Act funding for the purchase of the equipment (microphones, headphones, software, etc.) necessary to begin to develop a new El Dorado County Oral History Project.  The goal of the project is to expand the library/museum's role in the historical preservation of El Dorado County's history by developing a pilot model in the South Lake Tahoe community.  Staff and volunteers intend to produce five histories by the end of the project, that will be made available to the public.
 
Action to be taken following Board approval:
1) Chair to sign one (1) Financial Claim form.
2) Chair to sign one (1) Certification form.
3) Chair to sign Budget Transfer.
4) Department to mail original forms to the California State Library.
