Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: The funding for this agreement has been included in the Sheriff's Department FY 2009-10 budget for the period of March 26, 2010 thru June, 30, 2010. The Sheriff's FY2010-11 budget will include funding for the remainder of the term through June 30, 2011.

Background: per title 15, Section 1061 of the California Administrative Code, the Sheriff contracts with the El Dorado Union High School District to furnish personnel and services necessary to provide a jail inmate education program.

Reason for Recommendation: In the past this agreement has been off cycle of the County fiscal year. This new agreement will bring the agreement into a fiscal year cycle when the term ends on June 30, 2011 which will allow for better budget planning and less complicated billing. This agreement is retroactive to March 26, 2010 due to the length of time required to negotiate the change in term and fiscal constraints by the school district. The previous agreement expired on March 25, 2010.

Action to be taken following Board approval: The Board Chair will sign the Agreement and forward back to the Sheriff's Office for processing.
