DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff's high-band radio communications system requires equipment to be located at various sites around the County. Since the installation of the system in the late 1990's, equipment needed to provide communication services in South County has been located on Mr. Garibaldi’s Fairplay property.
The lease is retroactive since staff tried but was unsuccessful in establishing contact with Mr. Garibaldi until recently for a new contract covering the period after the last contract expired on December 31, 2022.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve this contract and direct the Sheriff to find alternatives, however, that could jeopardize emergency communications capabilities.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
