DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The 2023-24 Grand Jury published two Final Reports:
1) Case 24-01 - Georgetown Airport: A Disaster Waiting to Happen, published February 21, 2024; and
2) Case 24-04 - Transient Occupancy Tax: Transparency Matters, published March 4, 2024.

Under the California Penal Code section 933 (c), the Board of Supervisors must provide a response to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court within 90 days of the date that a Final Report is made available to the public. The response to the report is due by May 21, 2024, and the proposed response is therefore being submitted to your Board for approval.

The attached draft responses have been prepared in the form prescribed by Penal Code section 933.05 and addresses the findings and recommendations of the Grand Jury for which the Grand Jury requested a response from the Board of Supervisors.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no direct financial impact related to the consideration of the responses. There may be a financial impact related to the implementation of certain Grand Jury Recommendations; however, such impacts will be identified as staff assesses needs for future action and will be discussed in future staff reports prior to approval and/or implementation.
