Title: Health and Human Services Agency, Community Services Division, recommending the Board approve the following: 1) Award Bid 24-0041 for the purchase of fiber food trays, sealing film and sealing equipment rental to the sole qualified bidder, Oliver Packaging & Equipment of Walker, MI.; 2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to issue a purchase contract in the amount of $150,000 for a thirty-six month term following Board approval; and 3) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase the purchase order contract on an "as needed" basis during the awarded period, as long as funding is available within the requesting department’s budget. DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Procurement and Contracts Division issued an Invitation to Bid for fiber food trays, sealing film and sealing equipment rental for product and equipment to be used by the Community Services Division, Senior Nutrition Program for the distribution of well-balanced, cost-effective meals to eligible adults. Oliver Packaging & Equipment of Walker, MI. was the sole qualified bidder.

Established under the Older Americans Act of 1965, the Senior Nutrition Program promotes community health and wellness by providing eligible seniors access to well-balanced, cost-effective meals. The County is home to eight Senior Dining Centers, which prepare and serve meals in a group setting Monday through Friday. For homebound or isolated older adults, hot or frozen meals are packaged and home-delivered daily. These community meal services support the nutritional needs of older adults and their caregivers, while also providing opportunities for social interaction and wellness checks.
