Supervisor Briggs recommending the Board adopt a Proclamation recognizing June 28, 2010  through July 4, 2010, as "Yellow Ribbon Week" in El Dorado County. (Est. Time 10 Min.)
Body
Supervisor Ron Briggs welcomes Rodney Stanhope, Northern California Director of Yellow Ribbon America, for a presentation and acceptance of Proclamation recognizing June 28-July 4, 2010 as Yellow Ribbon Week in El Dorado County in support of military families and their loved ones.

This Proclamation is just one example of El Dorado County's continued support of active military members and their families which includes:

On May 11, 2004, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 130-2004 which provides that in the event that an employee of the County is called to Federal active duty (other than for training purposes), the employee will receive supplemental pay, equal to the difference between the employee's salary (including stipends) received from the military and their gross pay earned by the County, for a period not to exceed 18 months per occurrence.  Additionally, as directed by Resolution 130-2004, the County will continue to provide medical coverage and make its contributions to the County medical/dental/vision plan pursuant to the applicable MOU or Salary and Benefits Resolution for a period not to exceed 18 months per occurrence.

On December 4, 2001, at the recommendation of the El Dorado County Treasurer-Tax Collector, the Board of Supervisors approved a policy to cancel the penalties for all delinquent and defaulted taxes occurring while on active duty in the military and for a period of 90 days after release from active duty, upon application, for active military personnel fighting the war against terrorism.
