Reason for Recommendation:

The Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures places and services traps for the detection of exotic insect pests of concern and reports findings to the State on behalf of El Dorado County. In addition to the detection program the state has entered into an additional contract for the trapping of the European Grapevine Moth. The exotic insect pests targeted are those that are considered hazardous to agriculture and to the economy of California. Included in the agreement is delimitation detection work associated with detection of one or more life stages of the above targeted pests. CDFA finalized this contract on May 26, 2010. The timeline for trapping of this pest will run through June 30, 2010.

Fiscal Impact:

The funding and expenditures for this program will assist the department with extra help funding in FY 2009-10. This contract will not change the Department’s net county cost.
