Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding for the project will be provided by Highway Bridge Program (HBP) grant funds and Regional Surface Transportation Program exchange funds. There is no net cost to the County General Fund associated with this agenda item.

Background:
The Department of Transportation (DOT) has been working to advance this grant funded project for the improvement and channelization of Newtown Road at the South Fork of Weber Creek and replace the existing two-lane, reinforced concrete girder bridge with a pre-stressed slab bridge. In August, 2010, HBP grant money was received to proceed with the necessary preliminary engineering design work. Construction will include widening Newtown Road to 12 foot lanes and two-foot shoulders for approximately 400 feet approaching the bridge and 400 feet after crossing the bridge; and, to replace the South Fork Weber Creek Bridge with a 40 foot wide, 40 foot long newly constructed bridge consisting of 12 f...
