1) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to extend Blanket Purchase Order 290360 for one month to expire on December 5, 2010 for the purchase of diesel fuel to the low qualified bidder, Hunt and Sons, Inc. of Placerville, CA; and
2) Authorize the Purchasing Agent to increase the blanket purchase order on an "as needed" basis during the awarded period as long as funding is available within the requesting department's budget.
FUNDING: Non-General Fund (Road Fund Discretionary).

REASON FOR RECOMMENDATION: At the request of the Department of Transportation, the Procurement and Contracts Division issued Invitation to Bid #09-405-035 for the purchase of diesel fuel. On October 14, 2008 item #17, the Board of Supervisors awarded bid 09-405-035 to the low qualified bidder, Hunt and Sons, Inc. of Placerville, CA in the amount of $841,000.00 for a twelve month period expiring on November 5, 2009. On October 6, 2009, item # 03 the Board of Supervisors extended bid # 09-405-035 (BP290360) for one additional twelve (12) month period to expire on 11/05/2010 for the purchase of diesel fuel to the low qualified bidder, Hunt and Sons Inc. A one month extension is being requested to cover a gap between the expiration of this contract and the award of a new bid. Hunt and Sons Inc has agreed to extend the contract with the same pricing, conditions, and terms of the original bid.
FISCAL IMPACT/CHANGE TO NET COUNTY COST: Procurement and Contracts has been advised that funding is available within the Department of Transportations budget. General and Non-General Fund.
