Title: Health Services Department recommending the Board approve and authorize said Department to sign a letter of support for El Dorado County Community Health Center to submit with their application for a “New Access Points” grant with Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), noting this grant, if received, is intended to support the opening of a clinic located in Cameron Park to serve residents in the western area of the County.

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:   There is no cost (of any type) associated with this letter of support.
Background:   The El Dorado County Community Health Center (EDC CHC) opened in 2003 as a collaborative effort with the County Health Services Department (then known as the Public Health Department).  The EDC CHC subsequently became a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), operating independently from the County.
 
EDC CHC has been an active partner in ensuring the residents of the County receive quality and timely primary healthcare.
 
Reason for Recommendation:   Approval of this letter of support will allow the Department to endorse EDC CHC in its endeavor to expand services, particularly to the residents of the western area of the County.
Action to be taken following Board approval:
Health Services Department Director to sign letter and provide to EDC CHC for inclusion with its grant application.
