Title
Development Services Department recommending the Board adopt a Resolution of Intention authorizing the Development Services Department to proceed with the recommendations of the Agricultural Commission and prepare a draft revision to the agricultural district boundaries, as required under General Plan Measure AF-J. (Est. Time: 15 Min.)
Resolution 013-2011
Body
Background: In June 2009, the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors (Board) directed the Department of Agriculture to begin an analysis and update of the current agricultural districts in order to implement General Plan Measure AF-J: Complete an inventory of agricultural lands in active production and/or lands determined by the Agricultural Commission to be suitable for agricultural production. Once the inventory is complete, perform a suitability review (consistent with Policies 8.1.1.1, 81.1.2, 8.1.1.3, and 8.1.1.4) and amend the Agricultural District boundaries as appropriate. [Policy 8.1.1.7]."

In July 2009, the Department of Agriculture and University of California Cooperative Extension staff began detailed analyses of lands suitable for agricultural district revision in compliance with the criteria under Policies 8.1.1.2, 8.1.1.3, and 8.1.1.4. The results were presented to the Agricultural Commission at nine public meetings. In order to complete the update required under General Plan Measure AF-J, the Development Services Department recommends the Board adopt the attached Resolution of Intention.

Action to be taken following Board approval: Development Services Department to proceed with the recommendations of the Agricultural Commission and prepare a draft revision to the agricultural district boundaries.
