Supervisor Briggs recommends the Board adopt a Resolution to formally request that Ken Salazar, Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior, take immediate steps, in consultation with El Dorado County and the California Department of Parks and Recreation to designate an appropriate and effective federal land manager for the Auburn State Recreation Area and to provide sufficient funding to:  protect public safety, responsibly address wildfire prevention and fire suppression needs, properly manage the recreational use of the Auburn State Recreation Area lands, and to protect the Auburn State Recreation Area's natural, cultural and historical resources.
 
Supervisor Briggs recommends that copies of the adopted Resolution are mailed to:  Ken Salazar, Secretary of the U.S. Department of the Interior; Tom McClintock, U.S. House of Representatives; Dianne Feinstein, U.S. Senate; Barbara Boxer, U.S. Senate; Ted Gaines, California State Senator; Alyson Huber, California State Assembly Member; and John Laird, California Secretary for Natural Resources.
