Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: None. There are no costs associated with this MOU.

Reason for Recommendation: The existing MOU between these participating agencies expired in September 2010. Approval of this recommendation will formalize the ongoing relationship with the participating agencies through September 2011 under the same terms and conditions. In accordance with the terms of the MOU, the County Superintendent shall convene a meeting annually to review the MOU at which time changes, additions or deletions may be recommended. In addition, on an annual basis each agency is requested to renew their commitment to the guidelines identified in the MOU.

Specifically, the MOU provides guidelines to schools, law enforcement and juvenile justice agencies regarding gang activity, gang suppression, cyber bullying, student use, possession, and traficking of illegal substances or what is alleged to be illegal substances and students involvement with weapons and dangerous instruments/objects.

The MOU is retroactive coming to the Board because negotiations with the El Dorado County Office of Education started late and then the parties decided to wait for the new Sheriff to take office so he could provide input.
