Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Funding for the County of El Dorado Lease # 212-L1111 (Lease) has been included in the Department of Transportation's (Department) Fiscal Year 2010-11 budget.  There is no Net County Cost associated with this agenda item.

Background:
The Department has been leasing temporary housing for the snow removal crew in the Tahoma area during heavy snowstorms for the past thirteen years and is currently leasing the subject property for a term of December 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.

Reason for Recommendation:
During the snow season in the Tahoma/Tahoe area, the Department frequently works around the clock to keep County roads plowed and sanded.  During periods of significant snowfall, it is necessary for the Department to send staff from the Placerville Maintenance Division facility to South Lake Tahoe and Tahoma, possibly for several days at a time.  To accommodate the working snow removal crew, it is necessary to provide housing for them.  With the heavy snowfall this season the Department is requesting approval to exercise its option for an additional one month as provided by the Lease.

Action to be taken by the Department following Board approval:
The Department will notify the Lessor of Board approval to lease the subject property for one additional month.
