Title: Health Services Department recommending the Board authorize the Chair to sign Agreement 293-162-M-E2011 with Amador County for psychiatry services for a term of twelve (12) months effective upon full execution of the Agreement. Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: This agreement is funded from the sources noted above. Appropriations are available due to salary savings from unfilled psychiatrist positions. There is no Net County Cost associated with this Agreement for psychiatrist services through Amador County.

Background: The Health Services Department Mental Health Division has been recruiting for the position of psychiatrist for approximately two years. After repeated unsuccessful attempts to hire psychiatrist staff, the Department has sought alternative solutions to managing the psychiatric workload due to the 2.0 fulltime employee (FTE) psychiatrist vacancies.

Various attempts to use locum tenens placement services have been unsuccessful; the disparate locations (West Slope and South Lake Tahoe) and the multi-discipline environment (inpatient and outpatient juveniles as well as inpatient and outpatient adults) have created many obstacles to successfully placing psychiatrist(s) to help fill the need.

Amador County has agreed to provide services via their on-staff psychiatrist one day a week at a rate of $150/hour to help manage the needed services and at this time the Department recommends the Board approve the attached Agreement for Services 293...
